Tradhead - Graham Lindsey

Tradhead - Graham Lindsey

Graham Lindsey is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, writing inventive and varied tunes. His compositions don’t follow the traditional Irish, Scottish or other Celtic styles, and the subtle differences bring a unique feel and rhythm to his first album, “TradHead”.

He plays as a soloist and side-player with Celtic and folk musicians in Ontario and Québec, with bands and artists including From Away, The Trads, Anna Ludlow, The Sarah Burnell Band, McGregor & Lindsey and more.

Three tunes of Graham’s were played through the summer of 2017 as part of the recital series on the Carillon (the bells that play daily at noon) in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. This was followed-up in 2019 by a performance of a fourth tune, “The Carillonneur”, dedicated to Dominion Carillonneur Dr. Andrea McCrady who arranged these tunes and plays daily concerts on the carillon.

Graham’s compositions have also brought him to Sweden in January of 2017, where he was the “Guest Artist of the Year” at the Folk at Heart showcase festival, and he returned in 2018 and 2019 to collaborate internationally with different Swedish musicians. 2019 marked the first trip of the band From Away to Sweden, featuring many of Graham’s compositions.

Graham released his debut solo CD in June 2019, and has recorded for musicians including Sarah Burnell Band, Twin Flames, Trent Severn, Shelley Posen & Ian Robb, Sharon Hampson and more.

On-stage you’ll often see him with mandolins and banjo, percussion (bodhran and cajon, shakers and more), and flutes and whistles. Off-stage Graham works with musicians, producers, record labels and more producing media (websites, video, etc.), is on the board of the Canadian Folk Music Awards and is involved in other Celtic festivals and Canada’s wider folk-music community.
