Message from the new Consul General Frank Flood Consul General's Biography

I am very honoured and greatly privileged to be appointed as Ireland's first Consul General of Ireland in Vancouver. The opening of a Consulate General Office in Vancouver is a recognition of the strong historical links between Western Canada and Ireland. This is reflected in the number of Irish people, of all ages and backgrounds living and working in British Columbia.

Building on the work of the Irish Embassy in Ottawa and the Honorary Consul General in Vancouver, the Consulate will work to promote and protect Irish community interests in the Vancouver area by:

Providing high quality consular services and support for the Irish diaspora.
Facilitating the promotion of Ireland’s economic interests through our support of the Irish state agencies.
Further strengthening the strong bilateral relations between Canada and Ireland.

My colleague Luke Hanlon and I operate from a  Consulate General Office in downtown Vancouver since mid-September. The Consulate is open to the public and Irish community

On the trade side the initial focus is on engaging with the Irish state agencies, the Irish community (particularly the new Irish-Canada Vancouver Chamber of Commerce) and the local Canadian business sector. The objective is to learn from past experiences and obtain a stronger understanding of how the Consulate can best support and promote Ireland’s economic interests.

Le gach dea-ghuí
Frank Flood
